40 Years Old. 40 Years Young.

In the summer of 1973, a meeting of the Retail Credit Managers Association of Dallas convened with a special guest, a National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) representative.

At that meeting in June, the NFCC rep pitched the function and benefits of having a CCCS agency in the community, setting in motion the founding of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas, Inc. By January 1974, CCCS of Greater Dallas opened its doors for counseling, ready to individuals in the community with information and counseling to improve handling of money and credit. Within the next month, CCCS made its first disbursement to creditors: $5000. This inaugural individual debt management plan still remains today. Since those beginning days CCCS has continued to be your non-profit service provider over the past 40 years, growing and adapting to meet financial needs within the communities it serves. Touching the lives of over 1.7 million individuals from all walks of life and all socio-economic backgrounds, our vision remains the same- to provide consumers with the best information and tools at low-to-no cost to be financially successful no matter their circumstances. In the words of the current President and CEO of CCCS of Greater Dallas Ken Goodgames, “CCCS may be forty years old, but it’s also forty years young.” And that is exactly what this blog is about, knowing that as an agency, CCCS has years of experience under its belt, but it also has room to grow and change with the needs of today’s consumers. So welcome, welcome to our new blog. We hope you follow along with as we continue to grow and support you as a consumer within our virtual community.
